Specialized Exams & Treatments

Focused Eye Care is a premier provider of treatment for Dry Eye Syndrome, and we also offer specialized exams that can uncover more than just eye health conditions.

At Focused Eye Care, we believe that healthy eyes are an indicator of, and contribute to, your overall health. That’s one of the reasons why we offer specialized eye exams and treatments.

Optos® Wellness Scanning

Do you know that your eyes are the only visible extension of your brain, and looking into them is the only way to actually see any of your blood vessels? It’s true! Because of that, your eyes can tell a story that might not be available any other way, and an Optos wide-angle wellness scan is a great way to read it.

Our Optos scans enhance your Focused Eye Care doctor’s ability to detect early changes that may impact your vision, and can also indicate life-threatening conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cardio-vascular disease, cancer and stroke – conditions we can share with your primary care doctor.

Optos wellness scans are most effective if done during your annual exam, so that changes can be tracked over time. We recommend them for all patients.

LipiFlow® Thermal Pulsation

Eyes are very sensitive, and susceptible to a variety of issues, one of the most common of which is Dry Eye Syndrome, in part because there are so many factors that can contribute to it, including allergies, age, medications, and more.

Fortunately, the doctors at Focused Eye Care are experts at treating dry eye, and we are the premier provider in the area of LipiFlow thermal pulsation treatments for dry eye.

LipiFlow is a gentle, safe and very effective way to relieve the most common cause of dry eye: Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). Your meibomian glands are the tiny glands at the edges of your eyelids, responsible for secreting the fluid that lubricates your eyes. When they clog up, the fluid flow is reduced, or stops completely, and your eyes dry out.

LipiFlow applies moist pulsating heat to your eyelids, and gently massages them, to break up the material clogging your meibomian glands and flush it away. LipiFlow is FDA-approved and your Focused Eye Care doctor is highly-trained in its use. In fact, other eye doctors refer patients to us for LipiFlow treatments.

There are other ways to combat dry eye, and your Focused Eye Care doctor will encourage you to follow some or all of them. But when nothing else works, LipiFlow can help.

Optima® IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

IPL is a technology used for treating more than 20 different skin indications, including rosacea. The revolutionary Optima IPL treatment gently and effectively treats your skin and eyelid inflammation with maximal safety and comfort, fully customized to your skin type and condition.

Optima IPL is trusted by leading eye professionals around the world, and is FDA-cleared for treating the skin and eyelid inflammation that may be the root cause of your dry eye discomfort. Focused Eye Care doctors and technicians are thoroughly trained to perform safe, effective IPL treatments, and they will only be recommended to you if IPL is an option for relief of your dry eye condition.

An examination with your Focused Eye Care doctor will indicate if the skin and eyelid inflammation commonly caused by rosacea is the root cause of your dry eye condition. If so, we may recommend treatment using Optima IPL.
